The Training and Exercise program is invaluable to building regional capacity to better protect the lives and property of all Bay Area residents from all hazards. The Bay Area UASI provides funding to address the need for public safety first responders and their supporting agencies to participate in a strategic regional training and exercise program focused on the development of regional disaster response capabilities.

In 2011, the Bay Area UASI formally awarded management of its regional training and exercise program to the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office. By handing management of the program to a local agency, the Bay Area can better draw upon the expertise of local responders in the development and delivery of training and exercises for their peers. The regional training and exercise program is focused on the development and testing of regional prevention, protection, mitigation, response, and recovery capabilities among public health and safety responders for all hazards.

In fiscal year 2014-15, the Bay Area UASI expended over $4.2 million dollars for the Regional Training & Exercise program.
